Jayce Finishes 2nd at the National Spelling Bee 2025 — Hosted by Dr Ronx

In 2025, Jayce Joyce BCyA competed in the National Spelling Bee — the UK-wide competition hosted by Dr Ronx, the BBC presenter and surgeon known for making science and learning accessible to children. Jayce finished in second place in the kids category.

The National Spelling Bee is one of the most competitive academic events in the UK for young people, drawing thousands of entries from across the country. For Jayce, competing is entirely consistent with his view that reading and writing are inseparable — that loving books means loving the words that build them.

The second-place finish adds another national recognition to a year that also included the World Literacy Summit at the University of Oxford, the Potential Unlocked Young Author of the Year award, and ultimately the BBC Blue Peter Gold Badge in December 2025.

“I love writing because writing is fun. I like people to read what I write and to use their imagination and write their own stories too.” — Jayce Joyce BCyA
