Appeal for support as I continue to inspire other children to share my love of reading and writing

Jayce Joyce is just five, but the talented young author is already a world-record holder.

He has written three children’s books and loves sharing his passion for reading and writing with people of all generations.

He is asking for your help to run an activity workshop over the summer holiday with children to help reduce screentime and promote literary pursuits to other children.

Here are some of the fantastic projects Jayce has been involved with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf1vRvwO19U

Jayce’s story

Jayce was just four when he became the world’s youngest author to publish a book series simultaneously.

His three illustrated books, “A Beach With No Sea”, “Jayce’s Sweet Tooth” and Jayce’s “Alphabet Rules” are available on his website, Amazon, and other mainstream bookshops.

This World Book Day saw the publication of his third book – “Jayce’s Alphabet Rules” alongside the release of a diverse educational gift box titled Jayce’s World of Learning to promote early literacy skills and inclusivity in children’s learning.

Now, the Mensa member’s crowdfunding appeal will help him successfully run a summer activity workshop to develop a child’s reading and writing ability, so that they can become confident readers and creative writers.

Jayce said: “Reading and writing are fun. I like people to read what I write and use their imagination to write their own stories.”

His five golden rules for every child to develop their creative writing skills are: “think it; say it; love it; write it; inspire”.

Last summer, Jayce led a six-week fun activity workshop with children to help reduce screentime and promote literary pursuits to children. A total of 16 children participated.

He gave weekly winners back-to-school kits, which included his books and other educational items, but wanted to do it for everyone who took part.

It is hoped this year that crowdfunding will enable him to provide educational kits for every child involved.

Jayce has hosted several story time sessions in schools, libraries, bookshops, community groups, and care homes.

He became the first child author to hold a Storytime Session at Europe’s largest public library, The Library of Birmingham, during Black History Month as a way of celebrating his achievements and inspiring children to read and write.

Jayce and his family are being filmed for a documentary that will highlight his achievements and the importance of reading and writing.

We hope you can join Jayce on his journey to inspire young writers.

Thank you for any help you can give.

SPECIAL STORYTIME

Jayce Joyce

The Library of Birmingham

17th February 2024

3pm to 4pm

My first ever Storytime Session with the Elderly!

I’m very delighted to share with you some of the significant strides I’ve had lately.

I have been invited by Sutton Rose Residential Care Home for a special Storytime Session. I shall have the singular privilege to read my books to some elderly residents in my community – an incredibly wonderful opportunity to make a difference in my community, not just to children but the older population too.

I’m very excited to be part of this noble gesture, given its mutually beneficial outcomes.

This special storytime can help build an inter-generational bond between us as well as entertain the elderly by bringing back fond childhood memories or reminding them of moments with their children or grandchildren. Thus, this can keep their minds alert and engaged, improve their mental health, and drive away feelings of idleness.

This experience can help build my self-confidence, valorise my publications, and encourage me to work harder and strive to get better.

Online Storytime

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be having my FIRST ever virtual Storytime session!

In this maiden online experience, I will be having a special Storytime session organised by the Black Corporate Workers Support Group, Birmingham City Council, for children of all Council workers and Birmingham Children’s Trust.

This workshop serves as a great inspiration for me, given that it has been dedicated to Benjamin Zephaniah, a multiple award-winning British poet and playwright, who passed on recently (RIP).

As I reflect on Benjamin’s ground-breaking achievements, I feel compelled to do even more to leave a positive legacy.

Also, I see this opportunity as a genuine and valuable recognition of my untiring interest in creating a positive community impact.

Given the many benefits of reading and writing, I look forward to using this unique opportunity to continue encouraging parents to foster a culture of reading and writing in children at a very tender age.

This can help empower children with essential skills to become lifelong learners, effective communicators, critical thinkers, and creative individuals.

To make this event even more significant, I will be giving a 20% discount on my books to every child around the world as a special Christmas gift from Jayce’s World.
